Retro Portfolio: MSU Office of the Provost

On January 1, 2005, Michigan State University welcomed a new president, acting provost, and members of the Board of Trustees. As part of the transition of power, new websites for the three branches of MSU’s administration were built. All three sites were built with similar templates.

The Office of the Provost’s site was a simple site using only one piece of dynamic content. The “Images of Campus” photo is randomly selected at each page load from a group of photos placed in a given directory. The rest of the site is completely static.

The site’s template was partially based off of the university’s site and was built for compatibility with Macromedia Contribute, using Dreamweaver templates to restrict page editing to certain areas. The layout was achieved using HTML tables for structure and CSS for presentation.
