Retro Portfolio: Jiri Fischer Support Image

This image was created to honor Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jiri Fischer, who collapsed on the bench during a game on November 21, 2005.

Fischer was revived and later declared to be in good health but it was immediately uncertain if he would ever play hockey again.

I created this image to be displayed by Red Wings fans to show support for Fischer thoughout his ordeal. It was designed so that it could have been used as a patch on Detroit’s jerseys if the Red Wings had opted to do that (and if they had somehow found the image, which was not submitted to the team).

The outline of the image is the number two, Fischer’s jersey number, appearing in the font worn on Detroit’s jerseys. Inside the number is the most recognizable part of the Red Wings’ “winged wheel” logo.

The above text and image were copied directly from my original portfolio as I imported it over to the blog. It was not updated for re-publishing.
