Retro Portfolio: ClarkRasmussen.com Redesign

The August 2008 redesign of ClarkRasmussen.com came from frustration with another project. I needed to focus on something else and realized that it was time to rework one of my own sites so I did that.

Intentionally, the site design was similar to some of my other sites. The basic structure (banner, horizontal navigation bar, body, footer navigation bar, copyright) came from DetroitHockey.Net while the striped background pattern had been used on the site for O6 Web Services. Headings that were underlined were a feature of both of those sites as well as HockeySweaterNumbers.com.

The color scheme was similar to DetroitHockey.Net, with DH.N’s red replaced by a dark blue (not the same blue as used by O6 or HSN).

Most of the site’s functionality remained the same from the previous version of the site but the portfolio was rebuilt using the code from O6’s portfolio system.

Abandonment of the black/white/Courier design for the site meant that a new header wordmark needed to be created. I went simple with that, sticking to a white sans-serif font with a black stroke on the letters. A version with just my initials was also created.

The above text and image were copied directly from my original portfolio as I imported it over to the blog. It was not updated for re-publishing.
