Retro Portfolio: HockeySweaterNumbers.com

HockeySweaterNumbers.com was my first completely new personal site launch in several years. As such, it should come as no surprise that I borrowed from my existing sites.

The color scheme of HSN was based on that of O6 Web Services and the basic site template was similar to DetroitHockey.Net.

Completely unique to the new site is that its banner changes automatically every day.

The banner is composed of nine tiles designed to look like hockey sweater numbers. The site includes a cache of these tiles and every day tiles are selected from this cache to become the new banner. Old banners are archived and can be browsed.

The site’s data is managed in a wiki-like fashion. For the sake of accuracy, updates are not pushed live immediately. Instead they are queued up and can be voted on by site users. If enough votes say the update is valid, the new imformation will be added to the site. Users can also be labeled as trusted users and their updates will go live automatically.

The above text and image were copied directly from my original portfolio as I imported it over to the blog. It was not updated for re-publishing. This project launched in March 2008.
